This course introduces VectorWorks to landscape and garden designers. A basic understanding of computers is necessary. The course is structured over 3 days and teaches the following topics:
Day 1: Setting Up a 2D Plan:
The group is taught how to set up a computer plan. This includes understanding scale, adding colour, line weight, and how to select and deselect multiple objects. We learn how to translate a basic survey onto a computer. The group go on to create basic 2D forms.
Day 2: 2D Tools:
Hate drawing bricks? We discuss the tools that make drafting a faster and more profitable a process. The group learn how to draw technical specifications with text and dimensions that make drawings more accurate. We learn to create organic forms using arcs, circles and the free-hand tool.
Day 3: Planting Plans and 3D:
Computers can also be used to produce plant lists that will quantify the number of species on the plan. This can be transferred to a spreadsheet and sent to a plant nursery. We then look at creating basic 3D drawings, perspectives and isometric views of a simple design.
