About Us
Nigel Philips is an award-winning garden designer, teacher and enthusiast based in the South East. He trained at Merrist Wood College, and has been practicing professionally since 1981. Over the years, Nigel has been involved with a wide range of projects of varying complexities, giving him a broad knowledge and skill-set that led him naturally to teaching.
Garden Designer
Nigel’s philosophy is to take great care in creating garden designs that relate closely to the wishes of the client and how they want to use their space, and also to ensure that the surrounding landscape and property is closely allied to the final garden. His most popular service is his one-to-one service for smaller gardens, which delivers expert garden design in a single day.
Teacher
With decades of varied experience under his belt, Nigel teaches regular courses – you can find out more about these on his dedicated courses page. As an experienced speaker, he has also given past talks and lectures for the Royal Horticultural Society, The Hampton Court Flower Show, Countryside Living Association, Plumpton College and the House and Garden Show.
Awards & Recognition
Nigel has a strong reputation amongst his industry peers, earning him Fellowship with the Society of Garden Designers and a membership to BALI. Nigel is also a Chelsea Flower Show medallist and BALI award winner.
