The following garden design courses aim to cover most aspects from designing your own garden to becoming a professional Garden designer. There are courses to improve your plant knowledge and show you how to paint a pallet of colour for your borders. There are also courses to help you draw up a plan both by hand and using a computer. The Professional Diploma Course provides training for those who wish to learn the necessary skills to become a practicing Garden Designer. Based on the suggested content for a garden design course by The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) the course is a balanced to give you maximum information in a relatively short space of time.


Duration: Monday 7th - 11th September 2020 Time: 10.00am - 4.15pm Tuition fee: Full fee £575.00

Those attending the Professional course must consider this essential course. Open to other professionals and those seeking to brush up their drawing skills, it is a week long course of drawing up a garden design plan with all the necessary accompanying drawings to make it workable and aesthetic.

DESIGN YOUR GARDEN part ONE - survey/design/drawing

Duration: Monday mornings for 10 weeks from 20th September 2021 - 29th November 2021 Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm Tuition fee: £575.00

This introductory class on garden design will explain what is required to design a garden. Designs for patios and walls to choices on various plants for all situations will be explored. Some draughting and survey techniques will be explored with a view to you measuring up your own garden or project.

DESIGN YOUR GARDEN part TWO - planting design/drawing

Duration: Monday mornings for 10 weeks from 10th January 2022 - 21st March 2022 Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm Tuition fee: £575.00

For the second term, we will look at developing the design for your garden or project and exploring the choice of plants are the main ingredients for this term's course. Amanda Patton will be helping with this and showing you how to draw up a planting plan.

DESIGN YOUR GARDEN part THREE - design/visits/drawing

Duration: Monday mornings for 10 weeks from 25th April 2021 Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm Tuition fee: £575.00

Continuing the design of your garden with drawing up your plans and getting to grips with colouring it in and combining this with visits to various local gardens. Putting the final touches to your planting plans and finding out where to source these plants and visiting local nurseries including Hilliers.
