Large gardens have great potential, though we understand that not everyone has the time or expertise to conceptualise their desires.

Whether you’re seeking a touch of the traditional English garden, or a more contemporary twist, Nigel works closely with clients to create concepts that have a strong sense of place.

He understands that large garden design plans often need to incorporate multiple elements and features, and so will need a strong design pattern to tie them together seamlessly.

Depending on the size of garden, Nigel may be able to offer a single-day one-to-one garden design service.

Nigel’s Experience

Nigel Philips is an award-winning garden designer and teacher who has created large garden designs for a variety of projects, ranging from country estates, manor houses, entrance ways, and acres of wild land.

After graduating from Merrist Wood College, Nigel has been practicing since 1981 – earning himself a Chelsea Flower Show medal, a Fellowship with the Society of Garden Designers and membership and awards with BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries).

Nigel is able to complete all parts of the landscape design for larger gardens, including the garden survey, consultations with the client and the creation of the final garden design drawing.
