Front gardens can be more important than back gardens as each day you leave and enter the house, you’ll pass through the front garden.

It therefore needs to provide colour and to be interesting to look at throughout the year not only as seen from the house but also from the road.

This is a seaside front garden in Brighton where the plants need to be tough enough to withstand saline winds and low rainfall.

As it faces southwest, we have included a seating area taking advantage of the late evening sun.

Evergreen topiary trees have been used to give screening from the road for some privacy.

It is not only a garden for admiring from passersby but also provides some intimacy for the homeowner.
